The Amazon rainforest is home to nearly half of all species of lifeform on the planet. One can spend a lifetime exploring and only begin to scratch the surface of this vast biome. We chose to be tour guides because we ourselves are passionate about the Amazon, and we are eager to share this passion and our knowledge with friends from all around the world.
To preserve the fragile Amazon ecosystem by promoting responsible tourism
The Amazon rainforest is complex yet delicate. Slash and burn of the rainforest for agriculture or development have devastating and lasting effects. We promote responsible tourism with as little impact on the native environment as possible, and we are committed to the preservation of primary rainforest.
To provide sustainable income and a better life for the locals of the Amazon
Our tours are guided by the locals with the intention of providing sustainable income as an alternative or supplement to farming or commercial fishing, both of which can be destructive yet necessary if there are no other sources of income. We strive to maximize utilization of the existing local marketplace and we believe in fair wages and profit sharing with the local community.
OUR LODGE
Our lodge, Pousada Rio Uatumã, is situated on a 123 acre plot of primary Amazon forest on the edge of the Uatumã River. The river is a significant tributary of the Amazon River, and the basin is home to diverse wildlife, aquatic, land and arial. We are proud to be part of the concerted efforts in the area to preserve these fragile eco-system.
We are proud to have recently invested in solar to fulfill our promise to promote sustainable and eco-friendly tourism.
